His mother Laura was charged with the murder of his father when he was in his childhood, and after that was passed around from foster home to foster home. He seemed to be fairly normal, despite having to constantly move, and did decently in school, to make sure that he could at least get out of whatever house he was in as early as possible. He lied to his foster parents all the while, and not really staying at home too often to begin with. If anything, Russell felt at home whenever he travelled. A contradiction, but something he still feels to date. Of course, no one really knows that. He figures that it's just not something people need to know because it doesn't affect him -- he was too young to remember his parents anyway. A little before college came around, he was a little desperate for money because his job wasn't making so much and he needed to pay for most of his education, so he started stealing. He didn't pull anything big. He'd just pull wallets from stockbrokers on the train, no big deal. He was good at it, he never got caught, and he managed to make a living off of it. He ended up dropping to move out of the state, as far away as he possibly could, just to leave any lingering feelings he might have had behind. At one point, he did get found out, but only by another thief, who offered to help him out by referring him to his contractor. At first he had some ethical misunderstandings when it came to theft, but he quickly put that aside. He needed the money. His mentor of sorts, the real name of whom Russell never really found out, ended up vanishing in the wind some time after Russell met Ila, the two of them after the same item yet under different contractors. They pulled it off together and he's stuck with her and her father since then, expanding their little group along the way after her father retired. He's obviously doing much better now financially, even though money seems to slip through his fingers like water whenever he gets it. Not enough to be in debt, of couse. That's just a bad idea all around. |
An excellent con-man with the ability to keep his cool in situations that would make normal people sweat bullets, Russell is quite the experienced liar. He thieves not only for the thrill of success, but also for the profit. Despite his disconnected past When he isn't breaking numerous laws, he has a heart of gold. He's always composed, rather approachable and easy to talk to due to his charisma, though some may find him intimidating because of his ability to blend in with such ease. He's usually the first person to crack a joke that everyone finds funny. He's very confident and it shows -- things rarely surprise him. He plans very far ahead, mentioning that caution is something that comes along with being in this business. He's terribly loyal to his friends, and if anyone would want to mess with them, they'd have to kill him many times over first. He doesn't get upset or angry over very many things, but when it comes to issues of loyalty, he tends to get riled up in seconds. He's pretty sarcastic at times, but only to be funny. Sometimes, he can be quite a troublemaker. He enjoys staging arguments, among many other things, to scare new members, and at one point taught celebrities how to play cards just to con them out of their money. He's quite knowledgable about the history of thievery and brings it up often. He enjoys indulging himself with each adventure's spoils, and is infamous for running out of money first. He's always been quite a ladies' man due to his outgoing personality, though has never committed to any long-lasting relationship. Save for Ila. He loves to pick on people, especially newbies, but that's just for a spot of fun. He really takes care to watch out for everyone's back, even though it may not look like it. He never pushes anyone into situations that he doesn't believe they should, or can, handle. But he thinks that everyone in the group should be treated as adults, and should come across every type of scenario sooner or later. He also strictly believes that an excellent thief can get in, out, and done without having to spill any blood, but sometimes, things don't always work out that way. There always seems to be something that he's keeping hidden from everyone else, even though he doesn't mean it. It's rarely that he shows himself being vulernable -- Ila is pretty much the only person he trusts to talk about anything personal. To strangers, he's a fairly nice and understanding, if not a little hesitant, man. |
